I am an addict. That's the first step, right? Admitting you have a
problem? Although, I don't see my addiction to coffee as a problem.
Maybe my kidneys disagree. At any rate, I drink a lot of coffee. Being
a mom and a writer, I think it's just part of the job description.
Living in the enabling city of Fort Collins, with all of the different
coffee houses, only adds fuel to the fire. Mugs Coffee Lounge is one of
my favorite places to get my caffeine fix.
Mugs has been a coffee house staple of Fort Collins since opening in 2002 by CSU alumnus McCabe Callahan while he was in his last semester. Mugs' mission statement is heavily focused on sustainable living, providing products that are organic, fair trade, local, homegrown, compostable and recyclable. Mugs has ventured into growing their own produce by building a garden in their basement. They grow tomatoes, cucumbers, garlic, basil, cilantro, jalapenos, peppers and coffee. Their ultimate goal is to build a roof-top green house.
Located in the 1923 historic landmark Armstrong hotel on the corner of College and Olive, Mugs is not only a great place for studious college students or caffeine junkies like myself, but also travelers and visitors to Fort Collins. With quality made coffee, really good menu items and free wifi, it's the perfect place to figure out what adventures you'll be on for the rest of the day.
Mugs has a great atmosphere with art displayed by local artists hung all around. The basement houses the community room, which is available for meetings, book clubs and the like to use for free. All you have to do is sign up to reserve your space...
